GLEN EDWARDS MIDDLE SCHOOL
WEEKLY BULLETIN
November 30, 2020

Hello GEMS Families,

Have a great break!

I hope that all of our families have a great break. This is a time like no other and I hope that you all have a safe and healthy break. We looked forward to seeing our students return on November 30th'

Make up Pictures

Picture RETAKE day has been scheduled!! Mark your calendars now if you have not been photographed this year. Monday December 7th: In person students who were not photographed should go during their PE class to the spirit center for a quick photo. lnterCONNECT students can come on campus and have their photo taken between 1-3pm that day.

IF you need a retake because your parent does not like the photo, any student in this category needs to bring back the picture proof packet in exchange for going in front of the camera a 2nd time.

Therefore .... any student who has not yet taken a school picture needs to do so on Monday,December 7th. If you had a picture taken and your parent does not like it, you must bring back the picture proof packet you received in order to have another photo taken. If you have any questions please contact to the office to inquire.

Drop-off /Pick-up

For parents dropping off and picking up students, please drive slowly when on 3rd and M street. We have a lot of students trying to get on and off campus, and we have cars that don't stop and nearly hit kids and staff. Please be safe.

Please also talk to your child if they are crossing the street and remind them to use the crosswalk. We have students who are running in front of cars or riding their bikes in between cars. We have monitors out in all areas as well.

In Person Attendance

If you are attending in person and you do not come to school, you will be marked absent. If your child is logging in on a Google Meet without a Dr's note, they will still be marked absent.

Please call the front office to clear your child when they are absent with a valid reason. If you are registered in person you are expected to be in class in person.

Please do NOT come to school sick

If your child is sick PLEASE do not send them to school.  One of the main tasks is to assess your child's ability to attend school each day by seeing if they have any COVID symptoms that cannot be explained by preexisting conditions. These symptoms include:
  •   Fever (100.4 or higher) or chills
  •   Cough
  •   Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  •   Fatigue
  •   Muscle or body aches
  •   Headache
  •   New loss of taste or smell
  •   Sore throat
  •   Congestion or runny nose
  •   Nausea or vomiting
  •   Diarrhea
If your child exhibits any of these symptoms due to an unknown condition, do not send them to school and call your school office to see what your next steps are.

Expectation for P.E.

We have several questions about how P.E. is set up this year and whether or not students need to wear masks. Please click on the link to see detailed information about P.E.

Snacks

There is a designated snack area for students during the ten-minute break. All students eating a snack are expected to be sitting down and eating their snacks. Each table is labeled with the number of students that can sit at that table. It is important that students follow those limits. Seating has been crowded so we will be adding more tables to the snack area next week.
