State testing has started! Thank you for all of your efforts ensuring your interCONNECT child came to campus this past week to complete their SBAC. If your child was unable to attend SBAC testing or did not finish all 4 sections, please send them to campus on Tuesday, May 11th and Wednesday, May 12th.

We ask that students come through the front gates on 2nd and L Street at 12:50 so they can be in the testing room at 1:0 in the Library (downstairs of 2 story building).

We will ensure public health guidelines are followed. Students will be sat to maintain appropriate social distancing at more than 6 feet apart, and masks will be required for all students and staff members.

Students are to bring their charged school-issued Chromebook with them for testing as well as plug-in headphones. If you did not check out a school-issued chromebook or headphones, one will be provided for your child to use.

Please note on May 4th, 5th, 11th, and 12th, interCONNECT students will NOT login until classes begin at 10:14am.


At GEMS we have three core values which are Positive, Productive, and Professional. On top of these values were are trying to define some non-negotiable rules for students and staff. These are rules that EVERYONE should follow in order for the school to be predictable and safe AND welcoming for all students and staff. Please take the survey below to let us know your thoughts. We will be collecting students Chromebooks starting in June. If your child is an In-Person student they will be collected in their English class the second week of June.

If your child is an Interconnect student please have your student bring their Chromebooks to the library between the following times:
June 11 1:00-3:30
June 14 8:00-3:00
June 15 8:00-3:00


An email went out today for students who are eligible for our Summer School program. If you did not receive an email, your child is not currently eligible for the program. If you did receive an email please make sure you fill out the registration form as soon as possible and it will be on a first come first serve basis.

You can only access the form sent home from your child's email account. If you use an outside account you will NOT be able to reach the registration form.

The district has recently moved to a new Parent Communication Program known as Parent Square.

Not only will GEMS use Parent Square for school announcements and communications, we will also utilize it to send home a variety of documents. In some cases, those documents could be sensitive in nature and require us to send them in a SECURE fashion. Report cards and progress reports are a couple of examples.

In order to receive and open these types of communications, parents NEED to be REGISTERED to the program. Thank you to the many GEMS parents that have already completed that process.

As we transition to this new method of sending communications and documents GEMS will send “invites” to those parents who have not officially registered. The process of registering should be simple by following the prompts contained in the message.

We are almost at the end of 2nd semester and report cards will be sent to parents the week after school releases. We will be sending them using both Parent Square and standard mail. Please make sure we have your correct mailing address on file.  Also note going forward, report cards and progress reports will be sent via Parent Square and in the secure document format.

Please do NOT come to school sick

If your child is sick PLEASE do not send them to school.

One of the main tasks is to assess your child’s ability to attend school each day by seeing if they have any COVID symptoms that cannot be explained by preexisting conditions. These symptoms include:
  • Fever (100.4 or higher) or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
If your child exhibits any of these symptoms due to an unknown condition, do not send them to school and call your school to see what your next steps are.


Attendance has been very low for Study Hall. This is a great program with Lincoln High School students willing and able to help your child with their classes. Please consider taking advantage of this great program.
