ABOUT GEMS PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PE)

OVERVIEW

To insure a meaningful and successful physical education program,  Glen Edwards Middle School has established a program that emphasizes personal growth and development with transfer value to leisure time activity.

The program enhances mental, physical, and ethical growth and develops social interaction skills as well as fitness and motor skills.

A feeling of respect for the mind and body and confidence in one's ability to function effectively is a prime goal of our program.  Individuals who feel good about themselves are more at ease in whatever they try to do.

All PE classes meet the California Content Standards in Physical Education

ROPES COURSE

Every student has the opportunity to participate in the ropes course. There are several challenges: the multi-line, the two-line bridge, burma bridge, and the trapeze jump. Students learn the fundamentals of belaying, knot tying and most importantly, supporting their classmates as they climb up to 40 feet above the ground.
