English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC)

PURPOSE

The reason for having the ELAC committee is to give the parents of English language learners an opportunity to receive information and have input in the education of their children.  Some of the committee duties are outlined below.

  1. Give advice to the principal, school staff, and school site council of the needs of English Learners, including instructional and support needs.
  2. Study the results of the completed R-30 Language Census report.
  3. Give advice on ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
  4. Help in developing training materials and participate in training opportunities provided by the school and the district.
